Peacock ginger is a type of Kaempferia.  It has broad showy leaves and produces glittery lavender or pale pink flowers.  The plant grows from small corms and will begin to go dormant around November if kept outside.  The plant will rest and reappear in the spring with more plants.  This is strictly a shade plant that requires little care.
