Passion
Vines are
easy to grow and require little care once established. They are
excellent for covering walls or fences and grow well in a container
. They spread quickly and produce beautiful flowers in which some
are fragrant. Passiflora is host to many species of butterflies
and a smart addition to any butterfly garden. Simply provide a
few Pentas for feeding, passion vines for the caterpillars, and
you will soon have charming butterflies throughout your garden.
Plant in well drained soil, use an all purpose fertilizer and
wait for the blooms to begin around spring and throughout the
year weather pending. Our blue, red, purple , and violacea remained
in tact after a 30 farenheit freeze with little or no damage.
Most passion vines take full sun but I recommend 3/4 sun and 1/4
shade . Full sun plus a lack of watering may attract spider mites.
We use Safer Soap and spray as necessary. Once established the
passion vine will require less watering.
