Heliconia latispatha grows to 5 feet and performs best in bright indirect light to 40% shade.  It is excellent as a container plant or in the ground.  Like H. rostrata, it is slow to multiply. The inflorescence are orange and red and the leaves are broad.  The foliage has a maroon stripe down the underside and along the edge.  Very showy!  Use palm tree fertilizer and plant in well drained soil.
