Heliconia psittacorum Golden Torch is another heliconia that is perfect in the ground or in a container. The golden yellow bracts take their time to open and last a month or so. The blooms make excellent cut flowers and the plant itself is easy to grow, simply give full sun to 40% shade and water when dry. Golden Torch will bloom until a frost in which it may die back, but will reappear in the spring with more plants. Mulch to protect rhizomes from freeze.
